Valentine's Day 2019 | Love and Marriage Tips | 5 Love Languages

Yesterday Justin said something that makes me think about Valentine's Day in a different approach. He said, "Valentine's Day is a "Hallmark Holiday" because it will boost their sales. I think Valentine's Day should be everyday because love is worth celebrating!" Yes, that's my husband!

That's why today I want to encourage you to celebrate love every day. Don't get me wrong, I love celebrating Valentine's Day, but I think it'd be cool to always find a way to show love to the people you love the most.

People show and receive love differently,Gary Chapman, the writer of the book 5 Love Languages, reveals that each of us primarily speaks with one of five love languages:

  • Words of Affirmation The first one is to use words that build up. Examples: “You look so beautiful in that blue dress.” “Your cooking tastes so great!” “You make me proud.” “You look sharp in that suit.”

  • Acts of Service Doing things you know your fiance wants you to do. If your fiance’s love language is acts of service, that means that means action speaks louder than words.

  • Receiving Gifts THIS IS ME. I love showing love and receiving love through gifts. I feel so loved when somebody gives mean extra tips or sending me thank you gifts.

  • Quality Time Giving someone undivided attention. This means no kids, no screens, nothing, just the two of you spending time together :)

  • Physical Touch This does not always mean sex. It could be as simple as a good night kiss, holding hands while walking in the park, snuggle, a tap in the shoulder while you say “I’m proud of you.”, and a big bear hug.

So, our questions for you:

  • Do you know your love language? If you don’t know, take the quiz!

  • Do you know your fiance’s love language?

  • Do you show your love to your spouse through his/her love language?

Make it a little date night. And, if you want to know more about the 5 love languages, you should def read his book. You can buy it here!

Cheers!
